Atlantis - Dumaguete
This dive package to Dumaguete, Philippines includes a phenomenal dive package with an incredible dive schedule and up to 6 dives a day. 5 dives during the day and a night dive daily (nobody should dive this many times per day though).
On a long peaceful stretch of sandy beach and just a thirty minute drive from the airport is where you will find the lush and luxurious Atlantis Dive Resort - Dumague,
Surrounded by an amazing tropical garden with some of the rarest plants to be found in the Philippines, the resort is just a short trip to some of the most renowned dive sites in the Philippines. Apo Island, Siquijor, and the local Dauin Marine Sanctuaries to name a few.
Atlantis Dumaguete is located in the municipality of Dauin (pronounced Da-win), the capital, principal seaport and largest city in the province. The epicenter of Dumaguete's dive scene is Negros Island, the third largest island in the Philippines. The island is believed to have once been part of the island of Mindanao, but was cut off - either by continental drift or the rising waters at the end of the Ice Age. Fishing and boating in the sanctuaries is absolutely prohibited and Dauin has several established sanctuaries, which is the reason why there's such stunning marine biodiversity. Dive sites such as Mainit, Luca, Dauin and Masaplod are well preserved and offer an enormous diversity of life forms; including the blue ringed octopus, wonderpus, mimic octopus, poison ocellate octopus, Ambon scorpionfish, flamboyant cuttlefish, and bobbit worms that are regularly encountered.
Dumaquete is called the "The City of Gentle People". It is a college town with a warm atmosphere and an air of sophistication.
The city's name is derived from the word 'dumaguit' which in English means 'to snatch'. This name suggests it has the power to charm visitors and keep them from ever wanting to leave.
Dumaguete is the capital of Negros Oriental with a population of more than 120,000 people. The city is home to Silliman University, the first university outside of Manila, and several other first-class universities.
Atlantis, located in Dauin, has become the epicenter of diving in the Dumaquete area due to the immense biodiversity and world class macro photography. Two day trips to near by islands, will take us to Cebu where you can snorkel with Whale Sharks, and to
Apo Island, which is the home to over 650 documented species of fish and is estimated to have over 400 species of corals.
Most of the Philippines 450 species of coral, from tiny bubble corals to huge gorgonian sea fans and brain corals, can be found at Apo.
